MixScope (In development)

One of the biggest struggles, new and seasoned producers face, is how their mix sounds. Is it muddy? Does it sound good on other speakers? Did I use too much compression? Will the client like the mix? There are countless of similar questions that can lead to a lot of anxiety and frustration.

We usually send some of our tracks to friends that also produce music. They can offer the best advice possible, because they know how to listen for problems. Of course you cannot send them every mix you produce. They are usually busy and they won't listen to the whole thing anyway.

Even if you are producing tracks that someone else will mix and master, you still have to present a demo that sounds ok. And to be honest, after 8 years of doing this job professionally, most people expect you to deliver mixed and mastered audio at an acceptable quality. For a lot of projects, you are just the "audio guy". You have to do everything!

So, I decided to create a tool that will give me some confidence. Cause I surely need it when sending demos. Not a tool that will mix and master for me. A tool that offers an opinion, based on data. It generates a score for each of the five important categories and offers suggestions for improvement.

I just finished with the coding, and I am calibrating the rating system. I have to feed it with some good and some bad mixes and see how accurate the rating system is. But I plan to add another useful feature. And that is the inclusion of an offline LLM. I gave it a lot of thought, and I believe it's better to download a small local LLM and not ask the user to pay for monthly subscription etc. Would I pay a monthly subscription, just to get a little confidence boost? Not sure. But I believe that the local LLM, will work just fine.

LLM will provide an in-depth analysis on the rating and also will provide guidance on how to fix what you have. Again... not auto-fix it. Just guidance. At least, that's what I am aiming for.

Not sure how long this will take, but I wanted to share my progress. The way that I programmed this tool, is to offer some suggestions and guidance based on the data it gets from your audio. It's not a test and it's not a race to get 100 score in each category.
It's like your buddy who listens to your mixes. The only thing that matters is, send it or fix it.
