DawProjectPilot

A lightweight DAW project manager for music producers and audio engineers.

DawProjectPilot is a simple, fast, and focused tool designed to help you stay organized while working with multiple DAW sessions. It scans your project folder, displays all supported project files, and gives you quick access to essential project‑related actions — without ever opening your DAW.

Originally built to streamline everyday workflow tasks for music production, DawProjectPilot now includes versioning, notes, screenshots, audio preview, and more.

Features
🎛 Project Browser
  • Scan a folder and automatically list all supported DAW project files

  • Currently supports Reaper (.rpp) and Studio One (.song) projects

📂 Quick Access
  • Open a project directly in your DAW

  • Open the project’s folder in Explorer/Finder

  • Delete projects safely

📝 Notes & Screenshots
  • Attach notes to each project

  • Capture and display project screenshots

  • Supports both new naming (ProjectName.jpg, ProjectName.txt) and legacy formats (PPscreenshot.jpg, PPnote.txt)

🎧 Audio Preview
  • Automatically detects and loads preview.wav or preview.mp3 files

  • Useful for quickly remembering what a project sounds like

🏷 Tagging System
  • DawProjectPilot includes a flexible, multi‑tag system that helps you organize and filter your projects with ease. Tags are stored alongside each project, making them portable and DAW‑agnostic.

📦 Versioning Tools
  • Clone Project: Creates a new version by copying the entire project folder and renaming all top‑level files to match the new project name

  • Rename Project: Renames the project folder and all associated top‑level files

  • Legacy files (PPscreenshot.*, PPnote.*) are automatically migrated to the new naming system

🛡 Safe by Design
  • Only top‑level files are renamed

  • Subfolders (audio, stems, cache, etc.) remain untouched to avoid breaking DAW references

  • No DAW files are modified internally — DawProjectPilot never opens or edits project data

How It Works
  1. Select your main project directory

  2. DawProjectPilot scans for .rpp and .song files

  3. Each project entry shows:

    • Name

    • Screenshot (if available)

    • Notes (if available)

    • Preview audio (if available)

  4. You can open, clone, rename, or delete projects with one click

  5. Screenshots and notes are stored alongside the project folder for portability

Why This Exists

Managing dozens of DAW sessions can get messy. DawProjectPilot was created to make everyday tasks easier — browsing projects, remembering what each one sounds like, keeping notes, and creating clean version histories — all without opening your DAW.

Supported DAWs
  • Reaper (.rpp)

  • Studio One (.song) More formats may be added in future versions.

System Requirements
  • Windows 7/8/10/11

  • No installation required (portable executable)

  • No admin rights needed
